Peter Paul Rubens was a Flemish Baroque painter, diplomat, and scholar. He is best known for his dynamic compositions and vibrant colors. He was born in 1577 in Siegen, Germany and moved to Antwerp with his family at the age of 10. He studied under several prominent artists in Antwerp before becoming a court painter for the Duke of Mantua in 1603. Rubens was a prolific artist who created hundreds of paintings, drawings, and prints throughout his career. His works often featured religious themes as well as classical mythology and allegory. He also painted portraits of important figures such as Marie de' Medici and King Charles I of England. Rubens was an influential figure in the art world during his lifetime and his works continue to be admired today.
