Josef Mánes (1820-1871) was a Czech painter and graphic artist. He is considered one of the most important Czech painters of the 19th century. He was born in Prague and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His work is characterized by a romantic style, with an emphasis on landscape painting.
